My 3rd Conformation Show in Koenigswinter / Germany, May 2004

Normally Mistress is up on time when we have an appointment. She nearly wasn´t on this Sunday ...

Well we were not really late since we had started the day before and our papers where good for the whole show. Mistress was concerned however that the later we arrived the less parking spaces there would be. We were lucky. When we arrived at 9.15 am there were plenty parking spaces left. Since Master could not come I was amazed that Mistress found the way in that situation as well as she did ...

Smokey, Medley, Shani and their two-legged-ones were waiting for us in their trailer. My turn was only after the noon brake. Nothing noteworthy happened in between and the time went by fairly quickly ...

Just before my turn Mistress fussed around with my coat, put on my show collar and went a few paces with me. That I did not pull on my leash gave Mistress a good feeling for the show ... A little later we entered the ring sorted by numbers (I was third again). I glided in next to Mistress. When we halted I presented myself as usual.

The judge felt me down and checked my teeth. Then she told Mistress to trot diagonally through the ring so that she could appraise my gait. We started and I was just about to run ahead when Mistress pulled my leash sharply and said "slowly". I pulled myself together and slowed down. Stopping in front of the judge I presented myself again. She looked at me once more and signaled Mistress to move to the end of the line.

We moved on and I glided next to Mistress. After half the round I tried to speed up again. Mistress pulled the leash and went into a circle wished slowed me down.

After every dog was felt down and had her teeth controlled, the judge wanted some teams to show their gaits again. We were among them ... After that the judge made her decision and I was sorted din 3rd place!

We all made one more round and the people applauded. After the round of honor Mistress was unsure if that was the final decision. The judge had sometimes resorted the dogs afterwards. Mistress had forgotten to look to her ... Just when Mistress realized that there were 3 more teams in the ring and it was correct to stay the judge gave her the yellow bow.

We left the ring and friends were there to congratulate us. Mistress had eyes only for me. She kept telling me how well I had done, that I had glided next to her like an elf and that she was soooo proud of me ...
I had made 3rd place!
