My first Show in Leipzig / Germany, September 2000At that time Mistress and I did not train a lot for the show. She thought: "My sweet knows how to stand and most definitely knows how to trot ..." We entered the junior class and I was the only dog to be judged. There is not a lot to tell about this show. Since Mistress did not teach me to "stand nicely" and to "trot nicely" I did not stand still and jumped and bit into the leash dragging Mistress around ... Well I was only eleven months old and neither Mistress nor me had an idea what was asked for. Some would say: "An eleven months old dog must be able to run without biting the leash." But Mistress was still taking her time putting more store in my every day behavior. So it did not matter when I bit the leash in my high spirits. She thought it would stop in time. She was right ... Back to the show now. I was judged "good" (want to read the judges statement?). The judge said "Give the dog time to develop. To get some substance. And: Some discipline in the ring would be helpful ..." Mistress did ask what substance (relating to a dog) was and how I was supposed to get it. The judge just replied: "Either she gets it or she doesn´t." At the time Mistress really did not know what to make from that. We did not ponder it though, since for Mistress I am the best Aussiemouse in the whole wide world! I was praised and got a treat for showing "strong nerves" not being impressed by the hustle at the show ... The remark that I needed more discipline in the ring and needed time to develop my substance made Mistress buy a book about showing dogs ...
