My 2nd Agility Entry at the PHV Gevelsberg, June 2003
Mistress´s nerves were under control at the morning of the 06.09.2003. She thinks it was because of the many conformation shows we visited in the past. Calm as you pleased she packed her coffee and my treats into a basket. She got dressed and groomed me. Master on the other paw was fusing around. I sometimes think he is more nervous than Mistress is. We put my box and two chairs in the car and drove of.
In Gevelsberg we dragged everything on the green and joined my friends Metty and Smokey. Since they usually start with the A0 class it did not take long until the course was build and Mistress got ready. Just before our starter number was announced Mistress did frantic "heel"- and "hand"-exercises with me. Every few meters "tack" (=down). I knew al this by now and stayed calm.
Mistress put me in front of the first hurdle and straightened me out. She waited for the judge to clear the course, took my collar of and went behind the third hurdle. I had to really stay focused to not run after her. A millisecond before she signaled me I was off.
She stood like rooted to the ground while I took the 3 jumps. I zoomed up the a-frame and Mistress missed the moment for her "eeeehhhhhyyyy ... tack" and so I flew over the contact zone and vanished into the curved tunnel.
After leaping over the next two hurdles I scaled the dog walk. There Mistress managed just a bit late to give me the "eeeehhhhhyyyy ... tack" and I laid down. We went on to the table, I jumped up and Mistress wanted to reposition herself. She did not make it clear to me that I had to stay on the table, so I jumped down. Damn it, I had to go up again, the judge started the count down a new and Mistress stayed with me, just to make sure.
After the judge finished the count down I vanished into the straight tunnel and took the broad jump. The next two jumps were laid out in a half circle. I took them and one pole went flying. After that I vanished again in the tunnel. There were two more hurdles to go and I heard Mistress call "Run, run on alone!" We did it again without being disqualified.
In harmony with the world around me I went back to the tent and got my treat. Though we had made 3 mistakes we were content with our run. Monday we went again to the Fressnapf to make good Mistress´s promise.
This time I got a symbol of my doggy standing. A bleached bone.
One can´t eat it, but it is great to carry around
