My first Agility Entry in Marl-Frentrop, May 2002After passing my "Begleithundpruefung" in April our trainer thought we should start in Marl-Frentrop. An entry form was filled in and send away. We were taken. From that time on, Mistress was a bit nervous at the training sessions. The day of the tournament draw near and Mistress wished we not entered. "An entry is an entry and you start ..." were the words of our trainer. At the "Begleithundpruefung" I thought Mistress could not be more nervous ... I tell you now: I was wrong! Getting up that day she was a strung up as I am just before taking a hurdle! If I had not just followed Mistress and Master (who were carrying so much stuff I thought we were moving out entirely), I´m sure they would have forgotten me ... What were we up to?! The curse for the open was shaped like a wide "S" Mistress put me in front of the first hurdle and wanted to gain some advantage by going ahead a bit. Not with me! No unpermitted leaving the troops (Master always tells me) I started without waiting for her command. Mistress understood my game and ran after me. I do not recall the line up of the obstacles but the audience held their breath when I used the a-frame as a ramp (I had not done that before). Meaning I went flying over the top to land only on the contact zone. We were not disqualified in this open (a good many poles went flying though). Our trainer said to Mistress: "It was fun watching you (she must have meant watching Mistress chasing me), but not nice ...!!!" At that point I knew there would be consequences ... Well in the A0 test I disqualified us by going into the one and only seduction. Mistress did just not react. I think she was to busy keeping up and trying to show me the way. At the jumping I was finally convinced that I was boss at tournament and told everybody loudly. I did not head Mistress who showed me the way, but invented my own. But instead of chasing after me as before I suddenly heard a thundering "DOWN" (I don´t know where she got that voice from all of a sudden) and I tucked my legs under immediately. Mistress nodded towards the judge (I had already disqualified us) and we left the course with an also thundering "HEEL". I was already dreading there were consequences of my going berserk. My trainer and Mistress were of one mind: We would not start again the next few weeks. I had to realize that I was not boss at tournaments. Isn´t agility fun ?! Well I had fun ...
