Physiotherapy in Dortmund
Since I am supposed to swim to build my muscles now and it is to cold this time of year (we are in September) to swim in the Rhine or the Ruhr (rivers around her; translators note) Mistress found a Phsiotherapycenter for dogs in Dortmund. My first appointment was at 09.25.2004 at 9.00 o´clock. First they took my dates. It was really predecided that I would be doing "Aqua-Jogging"(on a treadmill in the water).
The therapeutist said that it can take a while until dog knows what she is supposed to do ... Oh well, Mistress put me on the treadmill (still situated above the water) and I got a treat. The Therapeutist started the treadmill and Mistress held me by my collar. Since I did not want to "slide away" from my Mistress and the treats I started putting one paw in front of the other slowly. Encouraged by the immediate success Mistress said to try lowering the treadmill into the water. So I went downwards ;-)
I am really not against water (I throw myself into every puddle if not stopped), but I don´t like to have no influence over how wet I become .. So I tried to lift every paw separately out of the water. That ceased to be possible from a certain depth onward. Since I can´t perform the trick of "the hovering virgin" I had to admit that I had no choice but to get wet ... Bravely I kept moving my paws to not be separated from Mistress; she had the treats after all. Mistress told me I was doing well and that I should keep moving because it is good for me.
After an endless 10 minutes (I have a premonition it might be longer next time), the mill was stopped and lifted out of the water. I got rubbed down and was allowed to wear my dog´s blanket. I though myself really chick and did not try to get rid of it. That thing really is marvelous. It looks like a horse blanket (only smaller of course) and the best thing was that when I took it off at home I was completely dry, as was the blanket ...
Mistress bought a book about massaging dogs and we finally left the center. I think I might have to go there all winter - Mistress already got a ten sessions pass ...
