My Team Test
Mistress did not hurry my training. Now I am two years old and Mistress thinks I should start showing what I can do. This is why I will showed the world what I can do on Saturday (11.10.2001) at the Club for dog sports Buettgen-Vorst e.V. .
At a Team Test one has to show the same skills as at the "Begleithundpruefung". Excluded is the shot and going through the group Mistress informed me. She things this would do as rehearsal for our "Begleithundpruefung" in spring. We need to get that done so we can start Agility Trials.
I realize that Mistress is very nervous. "Don´t panic Mistress I am with you ... we can do it !!!"
Saturday morning 6.00 am I don´t trust my ears: the alarm rings ... "Nooo, not getting up. It is freezing out there. You don´t chase a dog out in this cold ..." Mistress is not impressed at all and stumbles out of the bed. I get the feeling she does not want to either ...
When Mistress leaves the bathroom I greet her with enthusiasm as always. Then I munch my food. At around 7.00 am I get in to the car and settle in my crate. Mistress rummages in the glove compartment and emerges with a thing she uses to scrape white cold stuff from the windshield. I roll up and Mistress come enters the car gibbering. Nothing to write to you about happens on the way to Buettgen-Vorst.
Since the dogclub lies embedded in fields and woods everything here was covered with the same stuff that Mistress had scraped from the windshield. Mistress says the white stuff is responsible that she is so cold. I found it rather interesting: It vanished when touched with the nose ...
When it was our turn and we entered the lawn I made a double take. All the grass was covered in the stuff ! The route we had to take was clearly visible since other teams had taken it before. Mistress was shivering still ... Was she cold or nervous ?!?
After announced our selves to the judge we took the heel position. I was just discovering to how banish the stuff licking when Mistress said "Heel".
"Just a minute ! I am not done experimenting ... !" Now charge and passed Mistress. "Ooops I am on the leash." I tried to lick the stuff away during the whole test. Mistress nearly fell over me making the sharp turn. I missed jogging and slow motion too. She kept telling me to watch her and to stop licking the ground. Mistress wished the earth would open and swallow us whole. But neither the earth nor I would do her that favor. I immediately obeyed sit and down. That gave me time to lick the ground some more.
When Mistress called me in I zoomed towards her like a cannon ball. I don´t remember if I slipped or if I did it on purpose .... I kind of ended up lying in frond of her. I was supposed to sit. I was taken by surprise. That had never happened before. When Mistress implored I jumped up and scramble to the heel position.
After putting me on the leash again she said that was disastrous. We might not have made it. The last exercise was down and stay. I did not want to fail and lay like dead. When Mistress released me we went to the judge. He was talking about my willingness to heel, that I should walk nearer to Mistress and that I had not sat before her.
"One moment ... it was not my duty to free this place from the white menace ?! Mistress was cold because of it ..." We still got awarded 60 points out of 70.
The street part passed without disruptions. At the end when the judge congratulated Mistress to our passed test I just had to jump up on him. He did not take points away for it since the test was done. Lucky me! So we went home carrying a certificate declaring we had achieved 140 of 150 possible points.
Well, that was my Team Test and did I not say: "Don´t panic I am with you. We can do it ..."
